Éste es un nuevo proyecto que traigo entre manos: ir a un mercado de pulgas por una escalera, pintarla y llenarla de macetas con plantas y flores y ponerla en la sala. Una escalera vieja puede hacer grandes cambios en una casa, aquí algunas ideas.

Hola queridos lectores y lectoras, ¿cómo amanecieron el día del libro? Yo muy contenta, con una buena noticia, muy ad hoc con la ocasión. Hace un par de meses mandé mi cuento El cuadro de Allende a un concurso de Sexto Continente y Ediciones Irreverentes en España (visita su página aquí) y fui seleccionada. Les presento la portada del libro Cercanías (aquí), mi primera publicación, que incluye 10 relatos sobre viajes, en español, con autores españoles, argentinos, peruanos y yo desde México (la lista completa aquí). Hello dear readers, how are you today? Today is the Book Day, and to celebrate it, here is the cover of my first publication, the short story El cuadro de Allende in the book entitled Cercanías (here), a compilation of 10 short stories by authors from Spain, Argentina, Peru and Mexico with a common subject: traveling. Hello dears! I hope you are doing great. I'm super excited today because I'm off to the beach, tomorrow I'm gonna visit Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca one of my favorite places in the world! So, I will be absent for a week, no twitter, no blog, no fb, not even my email! I will miss you guys and your lovely comments.

Hola queridos lectores, espero que estén muy bien. Yo estoy muy emocionada porque a partir de mañana me voy a la playa a pasar una semana relajante sin fb, twitter, blog, nisiquiera correo electrónico, aunque seguro que extrañaré sus comentarios y mensajitos. In the middle of the Islamic Revolution, Azar Nafisi gives us a passionate portrait of the situatuation of women in Iran and how fiction helped them find their way into reality while she unveils the secrets of Nabokov's Lolita, and gives her own particular point of view about her story. Just fascinating!

Imagina que tu pequeñito despierta a media noche y te dice que tuvo un "sueño ilegal"; esta es solamente una de las historias de este increíble libro. En medio de la Revolución Islámica, Azar Nafisi nos muestra un retrato apasionado de la situación de las mujeres en Irán y la manera en que la ficción las ayudó a abrirse un camino en la realidad, al mismo tiempo que desvela los secretos de Lolita de Nabokov, y nos da su particular punto de vista sobre su historia. Verdaderamente fascinante.

Pencils of Promise

Hello Dears, I hope you are having a beautiful Monday! Have you ever felt the urge to help someone, but you are not really sure of how to start? Well, my friend Paloma from LaDolceVita, one of my fav sites ever, gave me a great idea: to join a blogger action to help children impoverishd and undereducated in Laos. Sadly, there are more than 75 million children in this terrible situation worldwide.


Hola queridos lectores y lectoras, espero que estén teniendo una semana divina. ¿Alguna vez han sentido la necesidad de ayudar a alguien pero no saben ni por dónde empezar? Bueno pues mi amiga Paloma de LaDolceVita, uno de mis blogs favoritos, me dio una gran idea: unirme a una campaña de blogs para ayudar niños de escasos recursos y sin educació en Laos. Es muy triste, pero existen más de 75 millones de niños en esta terrible situación en todo el mundo.



So, this is our opportunity to help. Pencils of Promise here is a NY based organization that helps children all around the world. Last December, they visited a small village in Laos and by July 2009, they had built a new school for the village children. This month, Pencils of Promise will be opening their third school and they hope to open the doors to education for more children in 2010. Our Blogger Collaborative Project will benefit the females students of Champet, a village in Laos that is home to the only high school in the area for surrounding villages. In order to attend this high school, the students must leave their families and homes to live in dormitories; girls are moving and living in these unsafe dormitories which consists of make shift bamboo huts in order to get an education. It is heartbreaking but so courageous at the same time.


Esta es nuestra oportunidad para ayudar. Pencils of Promise aquí es una organización basada en NY que ayuda a niños de todo el mundo. En diciembre del año pasado, visitaron una pequeña villa en Laos y para julio ya habían construido una nueva escuela para los niños del lugar. Este mes, Pencils of Promise abrirá su tercera escuela y esperan brindar educación a más niños en 2010. Nuestra Campaña de colaboración de blogs ayudará a niñas en Champet, un pueblito en Laos que alberga la única secundaria del área para todos los pueblos circundantes. Para poder ir a la escuela, las niñas deben dejar sus hogares y familias para vivir en dormitorios; las niñas se mudan y viven en estos dormitorios inseguros de paja con la finalidad de conseguir educación. Te rompe el corazón oír esta historia, pero es toda una lección de vida.



In the spirit of the holiday season, we are asking for your help today on behalf of these children. Just think of the enormous impact we could have if each person who reads this post makes a donation. Whether you give $10 or $100, every little bit helps ($35 buys shelves for a classroom, $50 provides pencils for one year, $100 provides a teacher’s salary for three months and so on)! Una Mosca en la Luna

When I started my first blog, Chic Banana, it was only an experiment. I was so bored at the office that I had to do something about it! I thought it was gonna be only a hobbie, but it turned out to be much more than that. I have made some incredible friends from this blogging experience, I've met really amazing people and I am really happy about it. I love you guys, you are part of my life now, I can´t imagine my life without you and your lovely comments. I know I haven't been a good blogger lately, but as you might know I'm a professional writter and translators and sometimes I have so much work I can't even find time to eat a decent meal, even on weekends.

Cuando empecé mi primer blog, Chic Banana, era solamente un experimento. Estaba tan aburrida en la oficina en la que trabajaba que encontré un escape. Pensé que sería solo un hobbie, pero resultó ser mucho más que eso. Con esta experiencia del blog, he conocido amigas maravillosas. Con el tiempo, se han convertido en parte de mi vida, las he llegado a querer, y ya no me imagino cómo serían los días sin sus lindos comentarios. Sé que últimamente no he sido una buena bloggera, pero como tal vez ya lo sepan soy escritora y traductora profesional y hay días en que no tengo tiempo ni para comer, incluso en fin de semana.
